Flexiwall delivers BRC compliance at Lightweight Containers

Westgate Global installed two Flexiwall partition runs totalling over 110 metres inside a live food and beverage manufacturing facility in Seaham, County Durham, creating a 99% dust-tight seal between production and storage to meet strict BRC compliance requirements.

Three Fastflex fast-action doors maintained unrestricted access throughout, and the full installation, including colour-matched panels and a 10m branded logo printed directly onto the partition, was completed within 10 days with no production downtime.

Keeping production moving at Lightweight Containers

Lightweight Containers manufactures some of the world’s most sustainable beer kegs. As a supplier to the global food and beverage industry, their facility in Seaham, County Durham, operates to strict standards. In BRC-regulated environments, the consequences of non-compliance are significant, including failed audits, production halts and reputational damage. When requirements called for physical segregation between production and storage areas, they needed a solution that would deliver full compliance without causing any production stoppages.

The right solution for a live environment

Westgate Global managed the project end-to-end, from initial survey and specification through to installation and handover. Two Flexiwall runs were specified and installed, creating a 99% dust-tight seal that eliminates dust spread, prevents cross-contamination and meets BRC requirements.

Flexiwall can be custom-designed to any height and length, making it well-suited to complex, tall industrial environments like this one. Both runs were engineered to fit the facility precisely — with a guaranteed seal around all steelwork and protrusions that meets ISO 7 cleanroom standards, delivering the performance of a permanent structure without the limitations of traditional construction.

The first screen spans 84m wide by 14m high and is hung from purpose-installed support steelwork at the apex. The second, 27m wide by up to 14m high, incorporates foam infill above and down the sides to create a fully dust-tight seal around all protrusions and steelwork.

Fastflex doors maintain workflow

Three Fastflex fast-action doors, 4m wide by 4.5m high with radar sensor activation, were installed alongside four pedestrian doors. In a segregated production environment, maintaining workflow between zones is as important as the partition itself — fast-action doors allow unrestricted movement of people and equipment without compromising the dust-tight seal or breaking the compliance boundary.

Beyond compliance

Panels were colour-matched to the company’s corporate RAL code — blue to 2.7m, white above — with a printed logo 10m wide by 5m high applied directly to the partition face. The result is a working partition that also reflects the brand.

The full installation, including partition runs, doors and frames, was completed within 10 days, with production continuing throughout.
