Flexiwall fabric partition for dust control and temperature management at Aperture Group

Aperture Group is the UK’s leading supplier of high-quality products to the fenestration industry, committed to delivering the most innovative, efficient and competitively priced solutions on the market. When they needed to segregate production and storage areas within their facility — achieving effective dust prevention and temperature control while accounting for the challenges of wind loading beside external shutter doors — Westgate Global recommended Flexiwall as the ideal solution. The result was a clean, professional and fully integrated partition installed with minimal disruption to their live operation.

Flexiwall fabric partition for dust control and temperature management at a leading fenestration supplier

Aperture Group shares Westgate Global’s commitment to quality and innovation. As the UK’s foremost supplier to the fenestration industry, they must ensure their facilities support precise, efficient operations, which means production and storage areas that are properly defined, protected and controlled.

Aperture Group approached Westgate Global requiring a solution to achieve clear segregation between their production and storage zones. The key drivers were dust prevention and temperature control. However, there was an additional engineering consideration: the partition was to be installed directly beside external shutter doors, meaning wind loads on the wall would need to be carefully factored into the design.

Designed around the site, not just the specification

As with every project, Westgate Global conducted a full site visit and survey before identifying a solution and producing a quote. This ensures every design proposal reflects the specific conditions and challenges of the site in question.

In this case, the proximity of the external shutter doors was a critical factor. The openings would generate wind loads on the partition, and the mix of pedestrian and forklift traffic in the environment required careful consideration of access provision and material specification. By gathering this detail on site, Westgate Global was able to accurately recommend the right materials and fixing methods before a single panel was ordered.

A Flexiwall solution built for the environment

Westgate Global designed and installed a Flexiwall fabric partition spanning two apex bays, each 22 metres wide and 12 metres high. As a substantial installation, the project demanded a robust, well-engineered approach.

The partition incorporated two Flexistrip PVC strip doors: one sized for forklift truck access, the other for pedestrians. These additions provided practical, clearly defined access between zones without compromising the seal’s integrity. A heavy-duty grey bottom section was also incorporated into the design, providing additional protection at floor level in an active industrial environment where wear and impact are an everyday reality.

Flexiwall’s unique v-overlap system and tailored installation process ensure that the fabric partition wall seamlessly conforms to the building’s contours, achieving a seal with dust-tightness exceeding 99%. This level of performance directly addressed Aperture Group’s requirements for dust prevention, while the thermal properties of the completed partition delivered the temperature control they needed to protect their production environment.

Installation was quick and clean. The system occupies only millimetres of floor space, making it far less disruptive than traditional construction methods and allowing Aperture Group’s operational schedules to continue throughout. The completed partition can also be reconfigured, relocated or removed at any future point without damage to the building, offering additional flexibility as the project evolves.

From initial quote to completed installation, the project took one month in total, with on-site installation completed in five days.

"Aperture Group needed effective dust control, temperature management and a partition that could handle real industrial conditions. What made this project interesting was the engineering side: installing beside external shutter doors means wind loading becomes a significant factor in how you specify and fix the wall. Our site visit process exists precisely for situations like this. By understanding the environment properly before we quoted, we were able to design a solution that performed exactly as it needed to from day one."
