Flexiwall safeguards the integrity of Don & Low's manufacturing process
Don & Low specialise in the manufacture of innovative, high-performance woven and nonwoven technical textiles. The materials they produce are used across a wide range of industries, including geotextiles, construction, synthetic turf, coated fabrics, medical applications and floor coverings.
Westgate Global were approached by Don & Low Ltd to supply walling to create a dust- and weather-tight seal on either side of a drive-through area between two production buildings at their site in Forfar, Scotland.
Don & Low produce high-performance technical textiles and precision-engineered materials used in industries where consistency, cleanliness, and structural integrity are paramount. These products must meet exacting specifications across highly regulated industries, meaning that any compromise during manufacturing or storage can have serious downstream consequences – from product contamination to long-term durability, product consistency or performance issues which can trigger non-conformances, product recalls, or loss of certification.
The drive-through gap between the two production buildings needed to be adapted from an uncontrolled opening to a controlled environment that could be kept free of dust and moisture. To achieve this, Westgate Global supplied and installed two external Flexiwall partitions, one 19m long and one 13m long, both 5.7m high. As the partition was installed in an exposed area, Westgate Global conducted a survey and carried out wind-load calculations, installing wind-load straps and mesh vision-panel vents to reduce wind pressure on the partition. A translucent material was chosen to enable the area to receive natural light.
