Temporary external weathering screen for data centre construction
Data centre construction requires precise climate control, especially during critical processes like concrete pouring. Temporary weathering screens help ensure dry, controlled interiors during early construction stages, mitigating risks and delays from weather or environmental conditions – and ensures quality standards are met – for example slab pour is done to correct grade. Westgate Global’s Flexiscreen is a high-performance weather protection solution in this domain, designed for flexibility, efficiency, and sustainability in complex mission critical projects like data centres.
Flexiscreen: engineered for adaptability, efficiency, and resilience
Flexiscreen is a high-tensile, engineered system ideal for temporary external weather protection on data centre projects. Relocatable and reusable, it enables the creation of a “room within a room” by spanning between structural portals, with no need for intermediate steel supports. Contractors and architects favour Flexiscreen for its enhanced design for optimal environmental control. Flexiscreen can be stored onsite for reuse on other building phases on different elevations.
Installation flexibility: prefabricated Flexiscreen panels are quick to install, adaptable to various heights and widths, and streamline construction schedules. The Flexiscreen can be installed and demounted from the inside- on the internal side of the steel. This ensures that the permanent cladding can be installed from the outside- meaning that the Flexiscreen can be taken down after external cladding install- meaning that the internal building will never be exposed to the weather during the transition.
Weather resistance & durability: made with robust reinforced materials and designed with wind-load straps, Flexiscreen is structurally calculated to withstand severe weather. The unique v-overlap design achieves a 99% weather and dust tight seal, providing precise temperature and airflow control critical for temperature-sensitive tasks like concrete pouring, curing and sensitive fit-out.
Sustainability & reusability: Flexiscreen’s easy relocation due to its modular installation enables fast repositioning without scaffolding or other support structures, enhancing adaptability for changing project phases. Reusability also supports sustainable construction practices by reducing waste and allowing for multiple applications within multiple data centres.
Data Centre construction project uses external weathering screen to ensure temperature maintained for slab pour
Westgate Global recently worked on a high profile mission critical data centre project in a location fraught with turbulent winter weather. The client wanted a trusted company with a project management focus that ensured our team could work to their programme for maximum effect.
We provided our space-saving and structurally calculated Flexiscreen, designed with a weather and dust tight seal that stops ingress, including pooling water. This was crucial as part of the ongoing work was the slab pour. Parts of the Flexiscreen are still up over one year after initial installation, enabling work to continue, and is due to be relocated to accelerate other fit out phases on other floors.
Flexiscreen provides a reliable, efficient, and secure weathering solution for data centres. Its design supports project timelines, environmental control, and sustainable practices, making it a valuable asset in early construction stages.
By proactively managing risks and adhering to high standards, Flexiscreen contributes to successful and safe project outcomes.
