Improved temperature control with Flexiwall partition at Protolabs

A Global leader in digital manufacturing, specialising in Injection Moulding, 3D Printing and Computer Numerical Control (CNC) machining, faced ongoing challenges with internal temperature control due to a lack of separation between their warehouse and CNC machinery area. Protolabs open layout meant that warm or cool air easily escaped, impacting staff comfort and made it harder to maintain consistent working temperatures, especially important where precision equipment and people are involved. 

Westgate Global worked with Protolabs to install a customised Flexiwall partition to effectively segregate the warehouse space from the CNC area. Designed and tailored specifically for the existing building layout, the solution helped to create a temperature-controlled environment while still allowing for necessary access and visibility. 

To further enhance usability and functionality, the Flexiwall installation included: 

  • Integrated vision panels to allow clear visibility between zones without compromising the barrier. 
  • One Flexistrip doorway for frequent equipment or pallet access with minimal air loss. 
  • Two steel pedestrian doors for regular staff access. 
  • Four additional steel pedestrian doorways to support movement and operational flow within the space.

The installation provided an immediate improvement in temperature control and created a more comfortable and efficient working environment for Protolabs’ staff. By separating the warehouse from the CNC work area, they could better manage energy use, reduce the impact of temperature fluctuations on sensitive machinery, and maintain a professional and practical workspace layout.
